Happy 40th Anniversary, Duotech Services!

Today, May 5, 2022, is the 40th anniversary of Duotech Services, LLC – an Aerospace and Defense company located in Franklin, NC. Since its founding by Dan and Cheryl Rogers in 1982, our company has grown to be one of the most successful companies in the western part of North Carolina.

As an equipment technician who was highly knowledgeable of the instrumentation tape recorders, Dan Rogers was sought out as a contractor for Honeywell and for Kelly Air Force Base.

Eventually, working from a small storefront in Jupiter, Florida, the two established Duotech Services, LLC on May 5, 1982. The Duotech name was chosen because of its mechanical and electrical engineering services.

In 1986, Dan and Cheryl would transplant Duotech Services, LLC from that small Jupiter storefront to a 5,000 sq foot facility in Franklin, NC. They were very familiar with the mountain town in Western North Carolina from the period Dan’s parents had a vacation home there in the 1960s.

Cheryl Rogers:

“From those very early days of just Dan and I running it all, I could not visualize then that we would be the size we are today. We were quite young when we started this – in our mid-20s. The biggest change I recognize from then to now is in the technology available. My two sons grew up working in this company from an early age and continue to be an integral part of Duotech’s operations.”

Dan Rogers:

“When we started Duotech in the early 1980s, it was challenging to secure purchase orders or contracts because we were a “start-up” company without any real history. We were mostly focused on the repair and support of instrumentation tape recorders for the DoD. The technology was much less complex than it is now. Very few if any microprocessors or software-related technology systems existed. However, we were able to successfully secure several contracts and purchase orders due to our commitment to quality and our dedication to meeting the needs of our clients. We are proud to say that Duotech is now a well-established company with a long history of satisfied customers. Thanks to our team’s hard work and determination, we have remained at the forefront of the ever-changing landscape of technology.

As time went forward Duotech needed to search for other products to support other than instrumentation tape recorders as the world was moving quickly to digital media rendering analog recorders obsolete.

Along with the technology changes, we needed to also keep up with the growth in our facility with the new products we were now supporting. As a result, we went from a five thousand square feet building space to twenty-two thousand square feet.

As the technology became more complex with the digital age with microprocessors and software, Duotech needed a strong engineering capability and facilities to be able to support these new technologies. We once again expanded our facility footprint adding another thirteen thousand square feet of engineering offices and labs.

In addition to our rich history of support of aged military systems, Duotech added new design capabilities to support the form-fit-function replacement of old systems keeping the warfighter flying. Our products now also include the manufacturing of aircraft radar systems.”
