The LPRF is a critical component to the APG-66(V) and (V)2 Fire Control RADAR in the F-16, as well as many other airborne platforms. Due to the age of the LPRF, it is plagued by a low mean time between failure (MTBF) as well as diminishing manufacturing sources and materials shortages (DMSMS). The Improved LPRF (iLPRF) was designed as a form, fit, function replacement to combat these issues. Utilizing the existing qualified chassis, the iLPRF design replaces the obsolete and hard-to-find subassemblies with modern, supportable, and high MTBF components. The iLPRF provides very quick return on investment, and keeps operational availability of the line replaceable unit (LRU) high.
