Memorial Day weekend is referred to as the beginning of Summer; enjoying camping trips, attending concerts, having family picnics, going to baseball games, and heading to the beach.

Duotech provides engineering, test planning, repair, and other technical services to the military and commercial users of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment. Services also extend to software development, machining, and fabrication.

A local student club called Gilliam’s Hope visited Duotech on Sunday, March 8 to tour the DSI facilities. Fourteen students from Macon Middle School in Franklin, NC attended to receive a personal, in-depth experience on how Duotech supports aerospace and defense industries around the world.

Gold Star Teen Adventures is geared up for another exciting year. This organization provides adventure experiences to the surviving youth of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

On November 24th, representatives of the Wireless Research Center of North Carolina took a tour of Duotech. Pictured from left to right are Wireless Research Center of NC’s General Manager, Lawrence Steffann, and President, Gerard Hayes, Ph.D., guided by Duotech’s Engineering Manager, Silas Gibbs.

We embrace this special occasion as a chance to pause and count our blessings. This day is more than just a big meal and football, though both are very important to us.

On November 14, 2014, the North Carolina Secretary of Commerce, Sharon Decker, visited Duotech while in the Franklin area. She was joined by the Chairman of Macon County Commissioners, Kevin Corbin, and Economic Development Director of Macon County, Tommy Jenkins.

Imagine that you are an injured U.S. military veteran wounded from a previous deployment to Iraq and whose missing both legs from an explosion. You have a wheelchair you depend on to get around but it was recently damaged in an accident, severely limiting its use.

The F-16 and Proven Aircraft TCG Worldwide Review is now over for 2014. I don’t have any attendance numbers of this year’s conference but from those who have attended annually over the past ten plus years, I understand last week’s event was very well attended both nationally and internationally.

Duotech will be at the TCG Worldwide Review on September 8 – 10, 2014 in Ogden, Utah. We will be in booths 150-151 and invite you to stop by and meet the team.

Gold Star Teen Adventures recently put on an Outdoor Leadership Camp in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Twenty teens from all across the U.S., the camp advisers who are students at military academies, as well as the organization’s founder, Major Kent Wilheim, descended on the mountains of North Carolina.

Duotech partners with other businesses to support manufacturing training programs in western North Carolina. These businesses are partnering with Southwestern Community College who recently was awarded grants totaling 1.5 million from the Golden Leaf Foundation to help students in western North Carolina interested in pursuing a career in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field.
